Who knew Baseball was such a romantic place? Take a look at this beautiful rustic wedding with shades of pink and romance on an early summer afternoon.
We met Jana on a phone call on a drive back from Whistler. Our bride Jana enjoyed how much we all laughed together, and booked us on vibe. Which is always our favourite way to connect with our clients.
The couple decided July 3rd was the date they were to be married. Cautiously, the two knew tying the knot in the midst of a pandemic, the rules could work in their favour or against them.
Planning
The PHO was scheduled to open up on July 1st to phase 3 that allowed 50 guests to attend a wedding, and dancing was allowed outdoors. Being the wedding was on July 3rd, we braced ourselves for the worst but held onto optimism. The venue being completely outdoors and covered allowed Jana & Ryan to have the weddings of their dreams. The two of them and their now combined family of four daughters said I do with all of their family and friends under a summer sky.
Photography
We connected Jana and Ryan with our friend and fellow Orphics team member Kim of Ivory Embers photography. Kim has a fun, unconventional and romantic style of shooting. We felt it was a great match from the start. That golden hour light took place slightly after the dinner hour. Kim snuck the couple away to the half open bar with the velvet couch to capture those magical shots. You could hear the soft noises of guests eating and drinking in the distance as Kim captured those golden rays and authentic love.
Venue
Estate 248 is stunning outdoor venue in Langley, BC. The venue backs onto a golf course. You are allowed to bring in your own catering, rentals and decor. However, the space has many decor pieces to offer for rent. They have a closed barn for the ceremony, a half open barn for cocktail hour and a tented area right next to the bar and dance floor for the reception. There is lots of green space to mingle safely and play lawn games with one another.
You also get access to the little white house on site, that offers a lot of opportunity for getting ready photos. As Jana stayed inside to be a surprise, the groom had his first look with the four girls outside the house on the porch. Following the girls first look, Jana & Ryan shared their first look down a small gravel path from the house with cascading willow trees above.
Ceremony
Kristen of Vancouver Officiant performed a beautiful ceremony. She told their love story and how planning the trip to Vegas for the softball team sealed the deal. Following the personal vows exchanged by the couple, they held a surprise in each pocket for their daughters. Four rings, one for each daughter, was given by the step parent to symbolize the union of the family.
Decor
The decor was very romantic. The ceremony had an arch that was part of the decor package from Estate 248. We brightened the wood square arch with soft pink draping and a garland with greens, pink and white coloured flowers designed and provided by our Florist Dina of Jorbelina Flowers. The aisle was filled with candles, wooden stumps, lanterns and rustic touches to enhance the romantic element in the space.
At cocktail hour, guests move to the open barn. Jorbelina Flowers applied florals and greens to the soft white thule along the barn posts to tie in the theme once more. Guests enjoyed lemonade and bubbles from champagne glasses, a candy bar and a fun polaroid guest photo book.
Pro tip, pick up decorate tape from a craft store so guests can put the photos in your polaroid guest book. The barn included a dark pink velvet vintage couch with the rustic lounge space.
The arch decor was repurposed and used on the head table. As often as we can, we like to reuse the decor so you pay once for something we use twice. The soft pink draping and the garland now along the harvest table for the bride, groom and their four daughters. On the guest tables, we took blush pink muslin runners to layer the guest tables, and paired it with whites, creams, pinks and green florals in low arrangements. To give it that romantic feel under the tent, we brought in votive and floating candles. We had custom stationary to match the original invitation from Paper Poet on the name cards. The venue itself provided long harvest wood tables and chairs, and we used these in our design.
Reception
Jana & Ryan wedding was romantic, rustic, warm, lighthearted and fun. The two wanted the day to feel like a wedding, peppered with their favourite things. The most fun challenge we as planners got to tackle was to help with the catering. Jana & Ryan being wanted to serve their favourite food from Cosmos Greek Restaurant located in their home town of White Rock. We helped secure the servers, and the chef team to execute the appetizers, serving the food from the restaurant buffet style, and the clean up. Us as event planners have a background in catering, so this was not a problem for us. We had Chef Lexi provide all the delicious canapés and manage the dinner service. This included the pulled pork sliders and the tarts topped with local blueberries. All the rentals from our friends at Lonsdale Event Rentals, facilitated by us and Chef Lexi.
The dance party was brought to you by our friend Joe of Vancouver DJ Company The smell of freshly made donuts filled the dance floor air from Little Ooties as the late night snack and dessert . The light pink food truck was brought to site for guests to requests at their leisure.
Enjoy the soft pink romantic rustic wedding made for summer days.
Kind words
Seriously couldn’t of asked for a better team to look after us in the planning of our wedding. The minute I talked to them on the phone I knew they were my people! Everything was better than we could of ever imagined and everything just fell in to place. I can’t thank them enough for all the little things like getting someone to go to the store to get ice cream sandwiches for our daughters for after dinner. Because we were planning throughout a pandemic, we def had some moments where we didn’t know what was going to happen but both Tarina and Kelly made us feel calm and reassured that whatever we ended up doing would be amazing. We had venue changes, a cancelled reception and ceremony of only 10 to ending up being able to have 50 of our family and friends and most beautiful fun ceremony and reception ever! We got to have more than we ever expected was possible and planned in a very short time. They make wedding planning look easy. If you or anyone you know is looking for a couple of amazing women to help you with your big day, these are your ladies! – Jana Hess
