A little party never killed nobody – Prohibition bachelorette styled shoot

Let’s be real. Are we not over the ‘eggplant’ cups, tacky tiara’s and embarrassing games we put our brides through when it comes to a bachelorette party? Most women are looking for a fun time with their best ladies, but why not make it modern? We decided to apply a fun and masculine twist to a hen party, with a Prohibition theme! What’s not to love! Cigars, great dresses, fun makeup and oh ya, whiskey!

We asked our good friend and photographer Kim of Ivory Embers to jump on this babe filled shoot, and she was 1000% in!

Like the cool props you see? We often hear how many ladies buy all these items, but what do you do with them after? Well BOLD Event Creative is a great rental place for any decor! You name it, they most likely have it. I mean, who else in town would have a vintage phone!

Let’s kick things off with the details. Pearls, cigars, lipstick, all there. Who wouldn’t want to post these photos on Instagram

WILL YOU BE MY BRIDESMAID PROPOSAL BOX

Now who doesn’t love a good gift box? Why not surprise your girls with a box, fitted to the theme! We collected some items that would pair well, and created this stunning: “Who doesn’t love a good gift box?! Why not surprise your girls with a box fitted to the theme! We collected some items that would pair well, and created this stunning “Will you be my bridesmaid” box. Consider including items that are more then just the bubbles you get at the dollar store. Include some of your favourite things! Maybe a favourite scented candle or some beautiful earrings? Maybe something fun to snack on? The list goes on! And remember – you don’t have to go too far for items that would make a party fun! Most of these items were found at Homesense!

Custom stationary can really bring the entire piece together. Our designer babe Kate of Inky Dot Design provided us with invitations and custom designs.

Paired with some custom cookies from our friend Alannah, the baker behind Cakes by Peddie, this is sassy ‘lil package!

TIP! At the start of your wedding planning, pair up with a designer. This way, everything you do that involves your day, will have the same look and feel!! Besides – Instead of fiddling with templates online, it’s much easier to talk to a human to bring your vision to life, especially our friend Kate of Inky Dot Design!

GETTING READY IN STYLE

Why not treat you and your ladies to some professional hair and makeup? Nothing like feeling pampered for such a memorable evening! We asked Laura of Laura Taylor makeup and hair to come in and help us get ready. She worked with each of our unique features for our vintage makeup, incorporated hair pieces and made our vision come to life!

Pair it up with some good music, snacks and… oh of course, signature cocktails!

We also asked Cakes by Peddie to make us a beautiful cake, because why not! We told her the theme and she is the best, so she gave us a show stopper which we paired with some delicious, deadly cocktails.

We whipped up some traditional yet simple signature cocktails for all the ladies to sip on. Of course, we kept it waste free with paper straws and a metal toothpick.

All the glassware, cutlery and flatware was provided by our friends at Lonsdale Event Rentals.

DETAILS – YOU DID THE WORK!

The more details you incorporate, the more your guests will thing WOW! Don’t just get a barrel and call it a day. Get creative and make little vignettes that are appealing to the eye. Small details put together really bring the entire theme to life. Check out the ways we decorated to give you inspiration for your next themed event!

INSTAGRAM WORTHY PHOTOS THAT EVERYONE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT – IN A GOOD WAY

While the cameras on phones these days are crazy good – hello Portrait mode – why not bring in a photographer, and be a little extra! Take some fun photos before hitting the town, and capture some fun and awesome memories, before things get too hazy and the lipstick gets to messy! Show off those curves, Ladies!

And yes, we can brag. We picked up two of these velvet dresses from Superstore (go Joe fresh!). You don’t have to go far to find the right dress. And pearls? They can be found at any costume store, but don’t be afraid to ask around. Most of your friends might have these at hand. We (well, Kelly) made all the pieces for our hair. This can also be a craft activity as you ladies get ready.

The backdrops are courtesy of Amazon. Would you have guessed this is someone’s living room? Even a backdrop can really change the feel and space of the room. We wanted dark and moody, so we just removed some light bulbs to make it work. It’s ok to rearrange the room to fit the needs of the event, just remember where the sofa went!

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

At the end of the night, if someone remembers, these pics are the ones to capture. Of course, we kept it with the theme.

Need help planning? As your wedding and/or event planner, we can help! Often times if you tell the current vendors you’ve hired you want to add a little something extra (for example, pro photos of you and your babes) just ask! They can usually offer you a bundle. Why not get more bang for your buck?
