Waterfront wedding on the Westcoast! We show you how blue and gold can create a fairytale wedding. Romantic, modern & lush describes this beautiful summer wedding.

Kind words from the bride:

Kelly was amazing from start to end. She caters all your needs. I only had to tell her once on how I want my wedding to be and she managed to make it all happened! Very understanding and a very calm planner all at times – which what I needed. Highly recommend!

Your life doesn’t have to stop while you’re planning your wedding! Some of our brides need that extra support with planning, especially when life gets in the way. Enter Novia + Paul, hard-working professionals who were travelling during their engagement and needed someone in their corner during the year-long planning process!

On a sunny and chilly Sunday, we met Novia + Paul at a coffee shop after having a phone consultation. We were so excited with their ideas for the day, a West-coast theme with light blue, cream and golds. We were referred to the couple by our friend Tallya D. Photography. Months prior we paired up via Instagram to do a Parisian photo-shoot, and ended up becoming friends!

Morning: Getting ready and the first look

Novia and her ladies began the morning getting ready, with the help of Artistry by Jaissa Rae. Novia chose to wear her beautiful long hair half up with soft curls, and a gorgeous crystal headband.  Her wedding dress was Atelier Pronovias with a cathedral length veil and shoes were from Cava Privé. She looked STUNNING!! Later, when the dancing started, she transformed into a shorter dress by Peggy Hartanto.

Paul spent his morning relaxing with the Gents, and got into his suit from Calvin Klein. Luxury Life Limousine picked them up and brought them to a private location for their first look, at Central Park in Burnaby. Again, our super talented friend Tallya of Tallya D Photography captured all the fun of the first look, alongside Stills & Motions Video

Luxury life limo brought the girls and the guys separately to Central Park in Burnaby, close to the venue. First look and bridal party photos took place before the day started.

The ceremony

The weather was perfect, as guests were able to gather outside on the lawn, for the ceremony. A draped arch was set up at the end of the aisle, with Allen from The Chapel Group  officiating and acoustic music provided by Timothy Chuy. As they walked down the aisle as newlyweds, Timothy and Sarah played John Mayer’s version of XO. D’awww!!

Once the ceremony was finished, we gathered everyone for a group photo followed by family photos and guests were able to enjoy cocktails on the lawn, with music provided by Audio Edge.

The reception

The reception takes place under the large tent on the lawn. The tent is included in the rental you select for your wedding package.

Our team spent the morning setting up under the tent behind the heritage and historic Hart House. This venue is surrounded by tall and lush trees, with Deer Lake Park as a backdrop. It’s a great venue if you’re looking to have a bit of city, a bit of country, a bit of forest and a bit of water.

Our team focused on setting up long harvest style tables for the guests surrounding the king table for the bridal party. They were all covered in a light blue linen, and topped with greenery garlands down the centre provided by Budget Blooms and lit up with cylinder vases filled with candles.

We love the idea of reusing the bridal bouquets as often as we can during the event, and re-purposed those florals down the length of the king table. At the front of the king table, we re-used the wood crates with white lanterns and cylinder vases from the Ceremony and created a picture perfect vignette.

The DELICIOUS cake and sweets were provided by Cakes By Peddie (all personally taste-tested for quality!). To add another level of comfort to the night, lounge furniture provided by Past Pieces Vintage Rentals was set up in the corner near the dance floor so guests could enjoy a rest in between the songs! We also had an interactive photobooth provided by  iDJ Services that had a lineup all night long, while Audio Edge had guests on the dance floor til the lights came on!

Fun fact, I, Kelly led this wedding with the assistance of my sister Shannon. Tallya, the photographer, shot the wedding with her sister Mariah. Talk about a family affair!
