Sometimes life hands you lemons. And you can choose to make lemonade or not. We’re in a very scary time right now for events, and it would remiss of us not to address what is happening in the world right now.
COVID-19. There, I said it. Gah…
We’re all in a state of uncertainty, and with concerns of large groups over 50 people, we as Industry Vendors and our Clients are looking to see the positive in postponing their event. Remember – this “positivity” could apply to any situation forcing you to postpone your big day.
Positive #1 – Time to Save Money
Weddings, as we know, are not cheap. And if you’ve decided to cover the whole cost without financial support from family, it’s a huge endeavor. This provides you with a unique opportunity to save up to help pay off some of the costs. Some vendors may even offer a payment plan, meaning you can put down smaller installments so you’re not dropping a bucket of money all at once. You can also save for those smaller details you omitted from your original budget. For example, stationary is another layer of detail that can be added to impact your decor even further.
Positive #2 – Honeymoon Fund
Saving money means you can also plan for a better honeymoon! Maybe book the excursion you wanted, upgrade your hotel, rent that car to take you to that expensive dinner. Time to save gives you some time to research your honeymoon destination.
Positive #3 – Invite More People
Perhaps you’re restricted on the amount of time you can take off for the honeymoon, but would like to invite more guests. Sometimes, budget constraints prevent you from inviting all of the guests you’d like to include. With more time to save, you’ll be able to include more family and friends on your special day.
Positive #4 – Time to be a Couple
Planning can be stressful to begin with. Sometimes, it can put stress on your relationship, as you try to include everyone and everything. Remember, while the day is about your family and bringing you together, the day is about you both! Take the time to go for a walk, or order take out, start on home projects you’ve been putting off.
Whatever you decide to do with the extra time, remember, things do happen for a reason. It might not be obvious at this moment in time, but this might be the best adversity to turn adversity into opportunity.
